Narrating Violence. A Comic Exhibition: Guided Zoom Tour with Dr. Marina Rauchenbacher

The exhibition features selected works by more than 30 international artists, such as Alison Bechdel, Anke Feuchtenberger, Regina Hofer and Leopold Maurer, Aline Kominsky-Crumb, Ulli Lust, Rutu Modan, Joe Sacco, Marjane Satrapi, Art Spiegelman, Una, Gene Luen Yang, and Barbara Yelin from But I Live: Three Stories of Child Survivors of the Holocaust (2022), among others, and focuses on four topics: “Sexualized and Gender-Based Violence,” “Coming of Age,” “Shoah,” and “War, Fleeing, and Migration.” It includes (auto)biographical, journalistic, and fictional works published as books, anthologies, comic magazines, and/or webcomics.
The exhibition has been curated by comics studies researcher Dr. Marina Rauchenbacher in collaboration with the museum’s research director Daniela Finzi. The Zoom tour will be guided by Marina Rauchenbacher and hosted and moderated by Dr. Elizabeth “Biz” Nijdam, director of the UBC Comics Studies Cluster. Participants can register here.
